The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)
Among other things, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) provides a relatively simple process for copyright owners who believe their copyrights have been infringed on the Internet to end the infringements. More information can be found at UCD P&PM section 250-05.
If you believe your copyrighted work is being infringed on the Internet, you can send a notification asking that the material be removed to the designated agent of the Internet Service Provider. The US Copyright Office maintains a list of service provider agents for receipt of copyright infringement notifications under the Act. The agent for notices of alleged copyright infringement by materials on a University of California, Davis, server is at dmca@ucdavis.edu.
If you have received a communication from UC Davis regarding a DMCA notification related to your Internet connection you may wish to file a Counter-notification as specified under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (Summary).
UC Davis students, staff and faculty can join the moderated dmca-info listserv.
